After completing an ergonomic analysis of the foot to combine comfort and aesthetic, the master last-maker creates a wooden mould by hand.
How important is the creation of a last?
Lasts are one of Carmina Shoemaker’s milestones. It is precisely in the creative process of the last where the mastery and technique of the shoemaker are combined with an exhaustive study of ergonomics and beauty to create an elegant and comfortable shoe. It is therefore the perfect communion of these elements what constitutes the starting point and the aim of any shoemaker. Therefore, the last becomes one of the shoemaker’s most distinctive elements.
Heritage
At Carmina we create the lasts for our shoes following the same process as our ancestors, sculpting a rough piece of wood using chisels, rasps and files until we obtain the desired shape, the same way a sculptor carves a sculpture.

Fundamentals of a last.
All our shoes are made using the traditional Goodyear stitch and are submitted to a strict quality control process. The shoes are made by a team of skilled craftsmen who carefully handle each stage of production
